A new version of Schistosoma mansoni phylome
By tgabaldon
A new version of the phylome of the parasitic trematode Schistosoma mansoni has been produced and made publicly available. This new phylome version is not only based in the newest version of S. mansoni genome but also includes other newly sequenced species such as two other Schistosoma species. This has enabled us to collaborate in the effort, in collaboration with Guilherme Oliveira's group (Belo Horizonte- Brasil) of re-annotating the genome and investigating the evolution of this parasite's gene complement.
Main results from these analyses have been published in Lopes-Silva et. al. (2012) The Schistosoma mansoni phylome: using evolutionary genomics to gain insight into a parasite's biology. BMC Genomics 13(1):617.
